Jamestown, Virginia

I threw in the towel today. Bill wanted to go to Jamestown which was a 30 minute drive from where we were staying and I sent him alone. Daisy and I stayed in the motor home. I was miserable in the heat yesterday and today was just as hot. As it turned out it was a good decision as Bill had to walk for about an hour. He saw three ships, the Susan Constant, the Godspeed and the Discovery. They were recreations of three ships that brought the English colonists to Virginia in 1607. The sailing took 144 days for the 144 men and boys to reach Virginia. There were no women on board since the purpose of this voyage was to build a fort, fight any potential enemies and to establish the first permanent colony. He enjoyed it immensely and it was good that I wasn’t there to hold him back. This is what he thought he was going to see at Williamsburg. When he returned to the motor home we left for Pigeon Forge, Tennessee although it will probably take us a few days to get there.
