Friday, August 16th, 2013 Today we stopped on our way to Quebec to fuel both the motor home and the car as fuel in Canada is very expensive. While we were stopped, we restocked our food supply. It’s hard to believe that we’ve only eaten out twice since leaving home. We then started out on the five mile drive to the boarder. When we got there we were surprised to see that there were only five cars in front of us. We thought it would be a really fast border crossing. It was not. We were told to proceed to the detailed inspection area where two officers told us to exit the vehicle, take the dog with us, open all external compartments, unlock the car and go stand in a specific spot in front of the motor home. They looked mighty hard for drugs or whatever but, having found none, they sent us on our way. This was the most intensive border crossing we’ve ever experienced and we’ve been across the border many times. We continued driving for another four hours, seeing many signs in French which were meaningless to us as neither of us speak French. Fortunately, the French numbers are identical to ours and Route 55 and 20 was all we needed to know. We got here about 4:00 P.M. When Bill checked in he was unable to communicate with the person at the desk so we don’t have Internet. Oh, well. Quebec is very French and proud of it. Many of the people here do not speak English. It’s hard to believe since Quebec is so close to the United States. But then again, we don’t speak French and we’re very close to Quebec. While Bill was grilling the Salmon and potatoes a lady drove by with a megaphone shouting something that sounded important. We have no idea what she said and since no one else moved or did anything unusual we ignored whatever it was she was trying to tell us. I wonder how the water is here. Anyway, here we sit with no Internet, no Satellite and no telephone but it doesn’t bother us at all. This is a lovely site, in fact, the nicest place we’ve been to so far. It’s also the most expensive. I guess you really do get what you pay for. We will be here for two nights. I will continue to write the blog but it may be a while before it gets posted.
