Louisbourg, Nova Scotia
Sunday, August 25th, 2013 We arrived at Louisburg, Nova Scotia around noon today and thought we were very fortunate to get one of the last available spots. Our luck didn’t end there. Our spot was the best in the park and the closest to the water and boardwalk. We came here for the 300th anniversary of the Louisburg Fortress where the merchants, seamen, soldiers, etc. were all dressed in the costume of that period. There were over 300 fiddlers playing at the same time at a fiddle concert. Unfortunately we did not get there in time to get a seat to the concert, however, since it was outdoors we took that time to tour the buildings and we listened to the music in the background. That was almost better. We returned to the motor home and wondered what all the commotion was about all around us. It turned out to be the annual shark fishing derby. As it turned out, only one shark was caught. The event reminded us of the movie Jaws when all the people in town turned out to see the shark. The commotion was crazy because of the good parking space we got. There was hundreds of people right outside our door. Luckily they all left by 8:00 p.m.
