After thinking about it all night, this morning Bill got up and called Blue Ox, the manufacturer of the tow bar. He told them the story of all that happened and they recommended buying a new tow bar, since this one is 13 years old and showed signs of wear when they rebuilt it last week. They had the report from the reconditioning we had done at the rally. They said that the MSRP was $845 and gave him the phone number of a dealer in the next town we’ll be passing through. That dealer wanted $900. When Bill told him the MSRP was $845 he said “I’ll match that price”. Imagine that, he’ll match the MSRP. Bill told him he’d let him know tomorrow and hung up the phone. Just for the heck of it, he looked on Craig’s List for the Minneapolis area and low and behold there was one which was the exact model that was recommended and had been used twice. It was ironic that we are staying at an RV park that is at the exit of I35 that we would need to take to go to the seller’s house. Bill thought that was an omen so off we went using our GPS to Wisconsin over back country roads for about an hour and a half. When we finally reached the house Bill said to the man “You must have been born here because you never could have found this place otherwise”. To end this story, we are back at the motor home with a new to us $350 Blue Ox tow bar. Our plan to stay put today went out the window. That was a 3 hour trip; however, we did go to the casino and had a wonderful late afternoon lunch.
