Charlettown, Prince Edward Island

Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 Today we visited Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island. We drove to the wharf and saw a Holland America Cruise ship deploying its passengers. We then meandered through a quaint shopping area and Bill bought an ice cream cone that was the best we’ve ever tasted. It was advertised to be the best on the island and we are believers. We then went to a farmer’s market and a local supermarket to restock our dwindling supplies and purchased one lobster tail, two shrimps and one piece of fresh halibut for tonight’s barbecue. We will add two scallops that we had bought and frozen a few days ago. We can hardly wait for dinner. This is going to be a seafood feast. Liquor is usually sold in a store next to the grocery store. Bill has been hoarding his two remaining beers trying to make them last until we get back to the U.S. I convinced him to go in and just buy a six pack as I know he enjoys having a beer when he barbecues. He agreed that was a good idea. He went into the liquor store and Daisy and I waited for him in the car. I had to laugh when I saw him walk out with a small bag. He bought two cans of beer because they don’t sell six packs here. It’s either buy by the can or buy by the case. He knows he can’t bring very much beer back across the border so he’ll have to make do with his two cans. We plan to spend the afternoon resting and catching up on laundry as we will be doing a lot of long drive days for the next five days trying to get to Cheryl’s by September 2nd. There is an event at Alexa’s school that we’ve been invited to attend.
