Highway 61 Minnesota

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

Today we drove along the most scenic route of the trip thus far. I didn’t think I’d see anything prettier than Wyoming but I was wrong. This part of Minnesota is gorgeous. It will probably take us at least five days to drive around just a portion of Lake Superior. It was on our right for the entire five hour trip today. We stopped at Grand Portage, MN at an Indian RV park and casino which is about five miles from the Canadian border.

This very remote park is on the edge of the lake. Bill asked at the office what there was to see or do and he was told to fish or gamble. We won’t do either. We didn’t get here until late in the afternoon so we will just enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. I am looking out the window as I write this and I see motor homes in the middle, lovely green trees to the left and the lake on the right – magnificent! Bill will barbecue “store bought” salmon tonight.

We have very little Internet or cell phone coverage so the blog will probably be backed up for several days at a time. I plan on writing it each day and saving it in Word for Bill to post when he can.
