Pope Museum, New Brunswick

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013 It’s been a week since we’ve been able to post our blog and here goes another entry. We are so far north that Dish Network satellites can’t reach us and most RV parks are without Wi-Fi. On the positive side, the weather is cool. We woke up this morning to a heavy mist which lasted most of the day. We had plans to do a couple sightseeing events but ended up doing just one. We had what turned out to be a personal tour of the Musee des Papes (Popes’ Museum) by an extremely knowledgeable young man. This is the only Popes’ Museum in North America. It was built in 1984 and it has the history of all the Popes beginning with the first – Peter. The last Pope shown was our current Pope Francis. There was more information on John Paul II than on any other Pope. He is considered to be the best Pope of the modern era. There were painted portraits of every Pope and a little history of their reign. There was also a twenty minute video that was extremely informative. We had no idea this museum existed. I’m so glad we discovered it. We both learned a lot of history of the succession of the papacy in the Catholic Church. On another subject, Bill had the chance to pose the question of the blinking green traffic signal. He was told that it meant you had complete access to the intersection and the intersection is yours alone. You could go straight, turn right, turn left or make a U turn. Our tour guide seemed surprised that we don’t have that in America.
