Niagara Falls

After a month of driving we finally reached one of our major destinations – Niagara Falls. It met all our expectations. It was just beautiful! It is certainly full of tourists though, even more so than Yellowstone. Every nationality known to man is represented here. Tourists, dressed in their blue raincoats (given to them by the tour) were lined up by the hundreds. From above they looked like Martins. They were getting ready to take the Majesty of the Mist tour which goes under the Falls. We observed them from the Observation Deck. We were going to take the elevator down; however, since Daisy was not a service dog, Daisy and I were not allowed to go down to the river level. The Falls are visible from both the U.S. and Canada; however, the Canadian side offers the best view since the complete Horseshoe Fall is visible. After parking the car and walking to the U.S. side we decided we had to see it from the Canadian side too since this is probably a once in a lifetime thing. We were told by a boarder patrol agent that the best way to cross over to Canada and avoid the long traffic delays was to walk across the Rainbow Bridge which crosses the Niagara River connecting the U.S. and Canada. I walked on the U.S. side but couldn’t make it for the Canadian part. We went back to the Tahoe and got the wheelchair and Bill pushed me and Daisy for the rest of that part of our adventure. We were all three exhausted when we got home. I took a 1 ½ nap and I never take naps. Daisy was a big hit among the tourists, especially the young girls who got out their Smart phones and took pictures of her.
We went back after dinner to see one more thing – the top of the Falls from Goat Island. Bill walked down farther than I did and he said it was pretty scary, he felt like he was going to go over the crest. He was about 10 feet away from it. We didn’t get back to the motor home until 8:30 in the evening. I think we did more today than any other day of the trip thus far.
