Lundburg, Nova Scotia

Friday, August 23rd, 2013 What a day it has been. Bill was up at 3:00 A.M. with a terrible pain in his neck. He had evidentially slept wrong. He took some Tylenol but the pain is still with him as I write this. We began our journey to see the 300th anniversary celebration at Lewisburg, Nova Scotia this morning at about 8:30 A.M. We don’t have GPS on our Smartphone since we’re in Canada so last night Bill printed out a detailed map to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. It rained and rained. I loved it but our driver did not. The Google map said to get off on Exit 3. I was in the back sewing and Bill said there was no Exit 3. We ended up lost in downtown Halifax in a big motor home, towing a big car around big trees with low hanging limbs at a toll bridge that we were too large to enter. In the midst of all this, the refrigerator stopped working and there is absolutely no place to stop on these highways, no rest areas, no parking areas, nothing. We resolved the refrigerator issue as soon as Bill could find a place to stop and we rerouted ourselves from an old GPS program that he had on his laptop. We finally arrived at our destination which was next to the Lunenburg’s Tourist Information. Bill went into the office and told them we were here for the 300th celebration. The information clerk told him that was 150 miles in the direction from which you had cometh. So, today’s mistake cost us 300 miles of driving. We decided to make the best we could from our mistake. As it turned out, Lunenburg is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We walked around the downtown area and purchased a lobster sandwich, seafood chowder and some pastries. Now we will plan tomorrow’s drive. We will reverse our direction and try to find Lewisburg. I doubt we will make it in one day. We will probably stop on the way thus making it a two day trip or a three day trip if you count today.
