Greenwich, Connecticut

Sunday, September 8th, 2013 We had a wonderful visit with Cheryl and family for the past week. Unfortunately, since we waited for a week to write the blog, there are some things we will have forgotten to mention. We arrived on Labor Day and went immediately to the site of the building of their new home and waited for them to meet us there since driving to their rental home without a local guide would have been almost impossible because of the low bridges. Evan took us all out to a nice dinner at the club they belong to and then we left for the rental house. It is definitely in the back country with windy, narrow roads with low hanging branches. Access to their rental property was nearly impossible with our large motor home. I wish we had a video of the process. Exiting was even harder as Bill had to back the motor home down a portion of the long, windy driveway. The next day we attended Alexa’s fifth grade orientation at Sacred Heart’s middle school. We were very impressed. The class sizes are from 8 to 11 students. The day after that Evan and Cheryl went to dinner with a client in New York City and we took Alexa to her first ballet class. She’s a natural because of her long limbs and prior yoga classes. Thursday Bill and Evan went to Costco and Home Depot to buy supplies for the house they’re building and Cheryl and I kept busy doing errands on “The Avenue” which is Greenwich’s shopping district. Intermittently Bill washed the motor home and car and worked on his list of 15 items that needed attention. There was no spare time, not even for me to watch a little of the U. S. Open Tennis match which I dearly love. Saturday Cheryl and I took the train from Greenwich to New York City’s Grand Central Station which is exciting in itself. Once there we took a cab to the shopping area that Cheryl thought I’d enjoy and she was right. It was a fun but tiring day. Cheryl was even tired by the time we got back home. Those few hours with her alone were wonderful. We left this morning and drove through Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and we’re currently in Delaware. During this drive, on one of the Interstates coming the opposite direction there were about 50 motorcycle police closing all lanes of the Interstate escorting a 5 mile long procession of motorcycles. We have no idea who they were or where they were going. We’re currently camped at the Delaware State Fairground, a 300 acre RV park with electric and water all by ourselves. There was a rodeo here Friday and Saturday and we understand this park was full and had just emptied out this morning.
