I am doing two separate blogs for today as we passed by and stopped at something incredible.  I was sleeping while Bill was driving but he knew I would want to see this. There is a 19-story cross located next to Interstate 40 (formerly U.S. Route 66) at Groom, Texas. This 190-foot tall free-standing cross can be seen from twenty miles away. Surrounding the base of the cross are life-sized statues of the Stations of the Cross.  There is a life size scene of the Last Supper and up on the hill are three crosses depicting the crucifixion of Jesus and the two thieves that were crucified with him.  The Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ Ministries has a wonderful gift shop on the site with unique Christian items.  For souvenirs of this stop, Bill bought me a pewter ring and silver cross and chain which I shall treasure and will always remind me of this visit.
