Trans Canada Hwy 17

Today we drove East on the Trans Canadian Highway towards Sault Marie, Ontario. During this beautiful trip I finished the sewing project I had begun at the WIT rally.
It is illegal to have radar detectors in Ontario. We were stopped by a policeman who stated that his radar detected that Bill’s radar detector was on. He said we were the only vehicle around when his detector went off. He then said that he has the authority to board our vehicle and search for a radar detector. At that point, Bill said he’d get it for him. The policeman observed that it was not plugged in but resting in the cup holder. Bill handed it to the policeman and he said that it felt warm. He then asked Bill how he plugged it in and Bill showed him the connector coming out of the dashboard. The policeman said it is a $170 fine for using a radar detector in Ontario and told him to lock it away somewhere. Bill immediate walked to the Tahoe and placed it in the glove department. We left the scene without a citation and the knowledge that a policeman can detect if you are using a radar detector.
We stopped at the most beautiful waterfall at Aguasabon River Gorge which feeds into Lake Superior. It was a shame that the water was not clean. It had a brown hue to it.
After about 7 hours of driving we started getting serious about looking for a place to stop for the night. We didn’t see anything suitable. We ended up stopping at the White River Visitors Center to ask for information regarding a place to stay. They said we could park right here for the night so that’s what we’ve done. Tomorrow will be another long day of driving. We are hoping to reach Michigan.
